Travis Hunter was recently placed on injured reserve, just a few days before the Jaguars head to Las Vegas to take on the Raiders. Hunter has shown incredible flashes this year, and many fans have called for him to see an increased role.
Hunter suffered a non-contact injury in practice, which led to him being placed on injured reserve. When asked about his timetable, head coach Liam Coen stated, "We're still waiting on further information to be able to determine how long it could."
This is devastating for the Jaguars offense, as Hunter was coming off his best game against the Los Angeles Rams, recording 8 catches for 101 yards and a touchdown. With the wide receiver struggles we have seen from the Jaguars this season, this only adds to the pressure of everyone else needing to step up.
Eric Murray was also placed on injured reserve shortly after Travis Hunter. He did not practice all week due to a neck injury and will now miss the next 4 games. Murray has been a bright spot at the safety position, allowing just 181 yards and an 89.8 passer rating in coverage.
Because of this injury, Andrew Wingard will not fill in as the starting safety. Wingard has had an up-and-down season, allowing an 83.3 passer rating but has allowed 21.6 yards per completion.
With an already struggling pass defense, these injuries could be devastating for the Jaguars chances at the playoffs. Over the next 5 games, the Jaguars will not face a single offense ranked in the top 10 in scoring, so they could manage to survive this stretch. We will see how Anthony Campanile is able to adjust without his key pieces.
