The Jaguars traded their 2026 fourth-round pick and 2026-6th round pick in exchange for wide receiver Jakobi Meyers. Meyers is in the final year of his deal and is seeking a new contract, requesting a trade over the dispute just months earlier.
This is a risky move to send two picks for a potential rental player, but James Gladstone believes it is worth it, stating it is Meyers' "superpower" to not drop the ball. The Jaguars have had drop issues all season long, and Meyers offers a sure set of hands.

5.7%- Jakobi Meyers

6.7%- Travis Hunter
13.8%- Parker Washington
17.4%- Dyami Brown
18.9%- Brian Thomas Jr pic.twitter.com/sAeCC7ghyr
In 2024 Meyers had his first 1000-yard season as a pro, but in 2025 has just 352 yards through 7 games. With the Jaguars lacking in depth at the receiver position, Meyers will fit in perfectly alongside Parker Washington and, depending on his week 10 game status, Brian Thomas Jr.
If Meyers is to perform well, he could receive an extension similar to the contract he is on now, that being a 3-year $33 million deal. Dyami Brown was signed to a 1-year deal in the 2025 offseason and will likely not get re-signed. Meyers could replace Brown as a reliable number 3 receiver in this offense behind Travis Hunter and Brian Thomas Jr.
I would give this trade a B+, as it adds another reliable pass catcher for Trevor Lawrence while not costing a ton of assets. Of course, there is the risk that Meyers underperforms and becomes a rental, but the Jaguars still have 11 draft picks in 2026, including 4th and 6th round picks, the same rounds the Jaguars gave up to make the trade happen.
This is the definition of low risk, high reward move. The Jaguars are currently sitting 2 games behind the Indianapolis Colts for the division, so a move was needed in order to make a mid-season push. If Meyers performs well and helps get the Jaguars into the playoffs, James Gladstone will have a good problem on his hands in the 2026 offseason.
