In the Jaguars 31-28 win, we learned a lot about the team as a whole, but also individuals who stood out in a big way. Players stepped up in the biggest moments to steal the game in what was a surprising outcome to most fans around the league.
Without Travon Walker, the Jaguars struggled to generate any pass rush on Patrick Mahomes, not sacking him once and pressuring him just 7 times on 41 dropbacks. This gave Mahomes plenty of time, which he took full advantage of to the tune of 378 total yards and 2 touchdowns. With the Seahawks coming to town with a much more potent offense, the Jaguars defense will need Travon Walker on the field, or it could be another long day defensively.
Since 2022, Trevor Lawrence has struggled to reach those heights and string together consistent play. On Monday night, we watched him play his most complete game since the 2022 playoff game against the Chargers. While statistically he has had better performances, this was the best he has looked in his decision-making and accuracy in a long time.
Lawrence looked extremely comfortable in and outside the pocket, making quick decisions to throw the ball or run it, without the panic that he has played with in the past. On top of this, his accuracy was as good as it has ever been, firing in passes where only the receiver had a chance to make a play. The game-winning touchdown spoke to Lawrence's will to win, something we saw during the 2022 season with the double-digit-point comebacks. Every time the team needed their quarterback to meet the moment, he delivered in spectacular and chaotic fashion, and is why they are now 4-1.
Of course, we already knew these 2 were the best players on the offense, but we have not seen them put together a complete game that elevated the offense. While they did not have eye-popping box score games, they both had their most yards in a game in 2025 and came up huge in big moments that changed the outcome of the game.
Liam Coen and Trevor Lawrence have to make it an absolute priority to get these two the ball any way they can. Purely dropping back and finding them when they are open has worked on occasion, but through 5 games we have seen great things happen when they simply get the ball in space. Travis Hunter is an athletic freak; getting him 6-8 targets per game will absolutely elevate the offense while also forcing the defense to choose whether to give him or Brian Thomas Jr. more attention, which benefits everyone else.
