3 takeaways from the Jaguars dominant win over the Titans

3 takeaways week 13

The Jaguars dominated the Titans 25-3 in what was a must-win game. The Titans jumped out to an early 3-0 lead before the Jaguars took control the rest of the game, finishing the game with an 8-4 record and in first place in the AFC South.

Jakobi Meyers has changed the offense

Jakobi Meyers had 6 catches for 90 yards and a touchdown in week 13, with the highlight being his 55-yard reception that led to a touchdown a few plays later. Meyers has been a security blanket for Trevor Lawrence, with his biggest value being his play over the middle of the field.

Penalties are still a problem

For as dominant of a win as it was, it could have been even better if not for penalties stalling out multiple drives. The Jaguars committed 13 penalties for 98 yards. Luckily, they were playing a team that is 1-10, or this could have become a much closer game.

The offense still has a ways to go

In a game that was never close, it would normally feel like cherry-picking to say what a team could have done better, but the Jaguars left a lot of meat on the bone in week 13. The biggest surprise was the running game, with Travis Etienne and Bhayshul Tuten averaging just 2.25 yards per carry against one of the worst run defenses in the league. One of the Jaguars staples offensively has been the running game led by their two-headed backfield, but that was not the case on Sunday.

Third downs were also a problem, going just 3-13. The Jaguars punted four times in the first half when the game was still relatively close, giving the Titans extra chances to cut into the lead. The lack of a run game along with 13 penalties was a major factor in the Jaguars not putting up even more points in week 13.
